Frequently asked questions
Helping you build confidence, independence and connection.
Through respectful, person-centred support, you can build everyday skills, strengthen independence and feel more confident in daily life.
We work alongside you, your family and support network to understand your goals and provide practical support that supports steady progress.
What is allied health, and who can benefit from it?
Allied health covers a range of health professions such as Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Dietetics, Exercise Physiology, Speech Pathology, Psychology and Counselling—that work alongside medical care to improve everyday function, independence and wellbeing. It benefits people of all ages, including those managing disability, chronic conditions, injury recovery, or general health goals.
Do I need a referral to access allied health services?
In most cases, you can self-refer directly to an allied health provider. However, if you’re accessing services through Medicare (such as a Chronic Disease Management plan), NDIS, or private health insurance, a referral or plan from your GP or support coordinator may be required to claim funding.
What's the difference between an Exercise Physiologist and a Physiotherapist?
While both professions support movement and physical function, Exercise Physiologists focus on prescribing tailored exercise programs to manage chronic conditions, improve strength and prevent injury, whereas Physiotherapists typically focus on hands-on treatment and rehabilitation following injury or surgery. Many people benefit from both, depending on their goals.
How do I know which allied health service is right for me?
The right service depends on your individual needs and goals. For example, Speech Pathology supports communication and swallowing difficulties, Dietetics focuses on nutrition-related health goals, and Psychology or Counselling supports mental health and emotional wellbeing. Our team can help assess your needs and recommend the most suitable service or combination of services.
